EAU Strengthens Research Governance Across All Campuses

East Africa University is implementing a University-wide programme to strengthen research governance and administration across its headquarters and regional branches. The initiative establishes faculty research committees, a University Research Council, harmonized reporting lines, research policies, manuals, standard operating procedures and institutional review mechanisms — designed to improve research quality, accountability, coordination and publication performance.

EAU Develops Digital Repository and Verified Publications Register

The Department of Research & Innovations is building a digital system to organize University theses, research instruments, datasets, reports and supporting evidence. In parallel it has compiled a University-wide register of published research from 1998 to 2026, covering EAU branches, faculty, staff and affiliated researchers.

Improves visibility, institutional memory, verification and access to research outputs.

Field Research 2026

Joint Study Examines Drivers of Youth Irregular Migration in Puntland

EAU and the Puntland Development Research Center have implemented a joint initiative examining the drivers, experiences and consequences of irregular youth migration — combining quantitative surveys, key informant interviews and focus groups across priority locations.

The final report is being consolidated for dissemination and stakeholder engagement.

EAU Strengthens International Research Partnerships in Nairobi

An EAU delegation held institutional engagement meetings in Nairobi with DAAD Regional Office, Campus France Kenya and United States International University-Africa, covering research collaboration, grant development, academic mobility and postgraduate development.

Follow-up meetings and memoranda of understanding are being pursued.

Building Research and Innovation Capacity Across Faculties

EAU is delivering research capacity-development activities for academic and administrative staff under the theme "Building a Research and Innovation Culture at EAU," supporting committees, supervisors and institutional leaders with practical guidance on governance, proposal development, ethics, supervision, data management and publication.

Agricultural Sustainability Center and Community Demonstration Farm

EAU is advancing plans for an Agricultural Sustainability Center and community-based demonstration farm in Bosaso, combining practical training, climate-smart agriculture, soil and water assessment, demonstration plots, greenhouse and nursery systems.

Government, municipal, community and development partners are being engaged to support implementation.
