EAU Develops Digital Repository and Verified Research Publications Register

The Department of Research & Innovations is developing a digital system to organize University theses, research instruments, datasets, reports, publications and supporting evidence. In parallel, the Department has compiled and is validating a University-wide register of published research associated with EAU branches, faculty members, staff, lecturers and affiliated researchers from 1998 to 2026.

The system will improve visibility, institutional memory, verification and access to research outputs.

Joint Study Examines the Drivers of Youth Irregular Migration in Puntland

EAU and the Puntland Development Research Center have implemented a joint research initiative examining the drivers, experiences and consequences of irregular youth migration. The study combines quantitative surveys, key informant interviews and focus group discussions across priority locations. Analysis focuses on economic exclusion, governance, insecurity, education mismatch, social influence and migration decision-making.

The final report is being consolidated for dissemination and stakeholder engagement.

EAU Strengthens International Research and Academic Partnerships in Nairobi

An East Africa University delegation held institutional engagement meetings in Nairobi with international education and research partners, including DAAD Regional Office, Campus France Kenya and the United States International University-Africa. Discussions covered research collaboration, grant development, academic mobility, postgraduate development, institutional capacity building and formal partnership frameworks.

Follow-up online meetings and memoranda of understanding are being pursued.

EAU Builds Research and Innovation Capacity Across Faculties and Campuses

EAU is delivering research capacity-development activities for academic and administrative staff under the theme “Building a Research and Innovation Culture at EAU.” The programme supports faculty research committees, supervisors, researchers and institutional leaders with practical guidance on research governance, proposal development, ethics, supervision, data management, publication and collaboration.

EAU Plans Agricultural Sustainability Center and Community Demonstration Farm

East Africa University is advancing plans for an Agricultural Sustainability Center and community-based demonstration farm in Bosaso. The initiative will combine practical training, climate-smart agriculture, soil and water assessment, demonstration plots, greenhouse and nursery systems, community engagement and applied research.

The University is engaging government, municipal, community and development partners to support implementation and learning.
