Position: Lecturer – Water Engineering
Duty Station: East Africa University – Bosaso Campus
Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Engineering
East Africa University is seeking a qualified and motivated Lecturer in Water Engineering to join the Faculty of Engineering. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in water resources engineering and related areas, contribute to curriculum development, support student learning, and engage in applied research that advances the university’s mission.
1. Teaching & Learning
Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in water engineering and related courses to undergraduate students.
Prepare course materials, assessments, and laboratory/fieldwork manuals in line with the university curriculum.
Supervise student projects, design work, and research activities.
2. Research & Academic Development
Conduct and publish research in water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, irrigation, or related fields.
Contribute to collaborative research initiatives within the faculty and with external partners.
Support the development of innovative teaching and learning strategies.
3. Student Support & Mentorship
Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and career counseling to students.
Monitor and assess student performance, ensuring timely feedback and reporting.
4. Administrative & Institutional Contribution
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum review, and accreditation activities.
Engage in community service, workshops, and seminars as part of professional development.
Support the university’s mission to enhance education, research, and sustainable development in Somalia.
Education:
Master’s degree in Water Engineering.
PhD in Water Engineering or ongoing PhD studies (preferred).
Professional certification or specialization in water resources, hydraulics, or environmental engineering (an added advantage).
Experience:
Minimum of 2–3 years of university-level teaching experience in water engineering or related fields.
Experience in research, student supervision, or professional engineering practice is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, irrigation, water supply, and environmental engineering.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (knowledge of Somali is an advantage).
Ability to use ICT, engineering software, and e-learning tools effectively.
Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, ethics, and teamwork.
