Eng. Ahmed Jama Isse

Dean, Faculty of Information Science and Technology

Message from the Dean

The Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), located at East Africa University’s main campus, was established on September 15, 2007. In its founding year, the faculty admitted 50 students into the Bachelor of Computer Science program, with 45 successfully graduating in June 2010.

Since then, the faculty has grown remarkably. Today, we offer six undergraduate degree programs and proudly serve a student population of 140 as of September 2025, making us the largest faculty at East Africa University. This growth reflects the trust and confidence of our stakeholders in the quality of our programs and the excellence of our graduates.

Our faculty is supported by a dedicated team of highly qualified local and international staff, trained both locally and abroad. They are committed to guiding students and ensuring programs are delivered efficiently so that learners complete their studies on time.

We also maintain strong partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations, bridging the gap between academia and industry. Every program integrates industrial internships, providing students with valuable hands-on experience and preparing them to thrive in the job market. Many of our graduates have gone on to establish their own firms, significantly contributing to the growing software industry in Somaliland and beyond.

We take great pride in our achievements and remain committed to excellence in education, research, and innovation. I warmly invite prospective students to join us for a transformative academic journey and welcome potential partners interested in collaboration.

Together, we continue to build a brighter future through technology and innovation.

Welcome to the Faculty of Information Science and Technology at East Africa University!
